Is Liposuction Right For You

May 1st, 2008 by janbaskin

By Michelle Evans So youre considering undergoing plastic surgery to achieve a better look for you. However, one of the most important steps you can take is to determine whether or not a certain plastic surgery procedure is right for you. Liposuction can make a drastic difference in your appearance, but it isnt right for everyone. This article should help you understand whether youre a good candidate for fat removal through liposuction. Liposuction is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery in the world and is, in its most basic terms, the removal of fat from various areas of the body. Many types of liposuction exist, but it most commonly consists of the fat in the body being broken up and suctioned out while the patient is anaesthetized. For the most part, the best areas on which to perform liposuction are small, troublesome areas where the fat cannot be lost through diet and exercise alone. Healthy living habits are always an easier and safer alternative to this plastic surgery procedure, but often, certain areas of the body are resistant to weight loss. In men, fat tends to accumulate in the torso, back, abdomen and sides, while women tend to hold more fat in their hips, buttocks and thighs. There are both ideal candidates and areas for lipo. The ideal liposuction is within 10-15% of his or her target body weight and has a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a balanced diet. In addition, the best candidates for fat removal have elastic skin that can bounce back after surgery. After liposuction, the patient will not only appear thinner but will also be less likely to accumulate fat in the chosen area again. Those with chronic medical conditions, however, should avoid liposuction. Though this procedure is common, its still major surgery and should not be taken lightly. For most patients, some areas of the body are better suited for liposuction than others. The hips, abdomen, outer thighs and neck often yield the best results. Lipo on the buttocks can help slim the area down but can also leave dimpling and rippling behind. As far as abdominal fat goes, liposuction is successful at removing the fat that exists between the abdominal muscles and the skin but cannot remove fat that is stored deeper in the body. Where the patient stores his or her abdominal fat will determine how successful fat removal will be. Remember, these are general guidelines, and only a qualified surgeon can determine if liposuction is right for you. Fortunately, the Internet is an excellent resource to find the right surgeon. There are several specialy directory services, including www.1800beyourbest.com, which provides nationwide listings of board-certified surgeons. Sites like www.1800beyourbest.com also offer guaranteed low-priced liposuction procedures, and are a particulary helpful source when you begin exploring prices for your procedure. Don’t Know What Wedding Flowers to Choose? Here Are Some Tips

April 28th, 2008 by janbaskin

By Willie Jones Flowers, herbs and spices have long been used as a symbol to unite and protect a new union. Garlic and onions were thought to protect newlyweds from evil and were often included as an integral part of the ceremony. White garlands were worn to show innocence and chastity but the language of flowers didnt arrive to Europe until the early 1700s. The universal flower for weddings is most definitely the rose. White or red are the most common. It was proclaimed by Venus, the Roman goddess of love, that the red rose was the most beautiful of all flowers. So it came to be that the red rose represented true love. When you are choosing the flowers for your wedding there are several things to take into account. 1) First of all, it is your wedding and should emulate your personality and be the theme for the ceremony and reception. It shouldnt be what your mother always wanted or your bridesmaids favorite flowers. Its about what you want. 2) Look at a lot of photographs of wedding flowers and bouquets. You need to get familiar with flowers, styles and colors. The internet is an awesome tool for that. It used to be that youd have to go to a florist to do this and you may still want to but fortunately there are a lot more options. 3) As you browse through the pages, start with style first. Do you like the bouquets that are long with ivy and ribbons, maybe compact and round, exotic, possibly long flowers that you carry on your arm almost like carrying a baby? The reason I suggest style first is because certain flowers are suited to each style. 4) Remember, large bouquets can be very heavy and if you have a small frame then you may want to reconsider a large bouquet. I have done bridal bouquets that have weighed as much as 30 to 40 pounds. 5) Once you have decided on a style then it can be determined what flowers and colors you would like. Sometimes you get lucky and see a bouquet and that is exactly the one you want. But dont be afraid to get creative. I once did a wedding where the bride (who married on Valentines Day) chose a round red bouquet for herself and the bridesmaids wore white and red dresses so we made half the bouquet red and the other half white roses. At the reception the bouquets were then placed in red vases and served as flowers for the head table. It was very effective. You can be as creative as you want.6) You can also choose flowers for their meanings. Here are some of the more common flowers used in weddings: Red rose - True love White rose innocence and purity, I am worthy of you. White carnation fascination, love of a woman White lily purity, heavenly Cala lily beauty Red tulips declaration of love Babies breath pure of heart Blue violet faithfulness Hyacinth loveliness Iris- warmth and affection Daisy innocence Ivy eternal love and fidelity 7) If you want fragrant flowers then I would go with white casa blanca or star- gazer lilies, hyacinth, tuber roses, and gardenias. The fragrance would be heavenly. 8) If you are on a severe budget then you may want to consider doing simple bouquets on your own. It is not that difficult to do. Example; take a dozen or more tulips and stagger them slightly so that the heads are not all together. Take the first tulip in your hand, place the next one so that the tulip head is now about 2 or 3 inches lower and so on. Take the ribbon of your choice and tie them together. Make a simple bow and there you have it. You can also do this style effectively with calla lilies, gladiolas and blue delphinium. If you want to save a lot of money then this can be an alternative for you. Regardless of the size and budget of your wedding, just remember, this is your day. Do it the way you want to and have fun doing it. Planning Your High School Reunion Has Never Been Easier with Online People Searches

April 25th, 2008 by janbaskin

By Tony Cohn It used to be that planning a high school reunion was a monumental task. Reunion planning committees would meet for months leading up to the reunion and would try to piece together a master class list from various out-dated sources. The end result typically was a reunion that was poorly attended because most classmates werent aware it was even taking place. However, unlike previous graduating classes, our class and the classes of the future have a distinct advantage in planning their reunions: The online people search. Though many people use people search web sites for background checks, many are unaware that these sites are invaluable for finding people or people searching. Sites like www.peoplefinders.com and www.voompeople.com provide access to billions of public records at the click of a mouse. Within the last few years, people search sites have also dramatically improved their search technology allowing users to locate almost anyone in a matter of moments. Thus, finding former classmates and spreading the word about the reunion has never been easier! To start searching for a classmate online, first sign up at a people search web site. Once you have registered at one of these sites, PSN recommends purchasing a monthly membership. Therefore, you can have an unlimited amount of searches instead of paying by the search. (Note, the cost of a monthly membership is usually justified if you are looking up more than three people in a one month period.) After purchasing your membership, it is time to search. Your first step in people searching is to enter into a search box any current information that you have on your former classmate. Information such as a classmates current address, phone number or city of residence can be extremely helpful in locating him or her. Current information, along with a classmates first and last name, is often enough information to obtain a classmates complete contact information. If you dont have any current contact information, old or historical information is often just as valuable. With new people search phone technology, phone numbers up to 30 years old have even been used to find people. Even better, historical information such as old phone numbers and addresses can often be found scribbled in yearbooks. Combined with a classmates name, historical information can often lead you right to your classmate. Finally, you may only have the name of your former classmate to work with. This situation requires reunion planners to put on their detective hats as a little investigating is required to find the missing classmate. Once the classmates name has been entered at the people search web site, you are typically given a list of potential matches to your classmate with additional background information surrounding each potential match. These results typically include a persons name, age, address and phone number history, listings of possible relatives and neighbors and possibly some criminal history information. Once you have narrowed down your results to a few candidates, you can use information such as address history and age to zero in on your classmate. So there you have it Class of 97. Before you follow in the footsteps of the classes before you and spend months trying to locate your former classmates, give online people searching a try. Who knows, with all of the time that you will save searching, you may even have time to find a date to the reunion. Founded in 2006, People Search News is a Sacramento, California based non-commercial online source for people search and people finder related news and information. 5 Weight Loss Myth Busters

April 22nd, 2008 by janbaskin

By Nick Farina Myth #1 - Low intensity exercise is the best form for weight loss as it puts you into a fat burning zone. FACT Your body uses a mixture of carbohydrates and fat for fuel. It is true that during low intensity exercise your bodys preferred choice of fuel is fat. However the fat burning zone doesnt really matter, as it is important to remember that your source or energy will come from the same mix of both carbohydrates and fat. Therefore it will all come from the same calorie pool and this is what you need to focus on - how many calories you are burning. Myth #2 - You can lose fat from a specific area of your body by doing an exercise for that part of your body. For example, using a seated leg adductor machine to remove fat from your inner thighs. . FACT - You can’t spot reduce! You cannot control where fat is removed from your body. Myth #3 You shouldnt start weight training until you have lost the amount of weight that you are looking to lose as this will just slow down the weight loss process. FACT Weight training should be an essential part of any weight loss program. It will increase your lean muscle mass, which in turn will increase your metabolic rate and make your body far more efficient at burning calories even when you are at rest. So start weight training ASAP. Myth #4 - You burn more fat if you exercise in the morning on an empty stomach. FACT - Exercising on an empty stomach does not affect how you lose weight. It may hinder the amount of exercise you can do as your energy levels will deplete quickly. Eating breakfast in the morning will kick start your metabolism and provide you with the energy you need for your workout. You should at least try to have some fruit juice in the morning if you find it difficult to eat early. Myth #5 The exercise machine-of-the-month burns more calories than any other exercise.FACT Dont be fooled by this. Calorie expenditure is directly related to the amount of effort an activity requires. In general the more challenging an exercise is the more calories you will burn. The easier it feels the fewer calories you burn. The bottom line is that it doesnt matter how fancy the equipment that you are using is, it comes down to how much effort you are making while using it. Supermarket Accidents - The Legal Position

April 21st, 2008 by janbaskin

By Martin Nolan SUPERMARKET ACCIDENT COMPENSATION CLAIMS It would be fair to say that supermarkets are something of a modern phenomenon. There are around 10 million people who shop regularly in supermarket stores in the UK. One retail chain alone has up to 2000 stores nationwide. Every city, town and almost every village has a convenience store. With so many people moving through the checkouts it will come as no surprise to learn that more than 20,000 customers suffer injury or harm whilst shopping in supermarkets. The casualty numbers are not publicised by the larger stores. There are many thousands of incidents that go unreported because the accident victim is simply too embarrassed to take the matter further or make a report to the store manager. A great many injuries are caused by shoppers slipping on produce (fruit for example) or debris left on the floor. The tiled surface can become extremely hazardous when wet or when objects such as paper or plastic are dropped. We are a firm of solicitors who deal with many incidents of this nature. Our clients generally have been the victim of shoddy practices inside the store where spillages are left unattended to or warning signs not used etc. The supermarket manager have a legal duty to ensure that customers are able to shop safely and that any hazards are quickly identified. Spillages, breakages, obstacles and obstructions must all be dealt with to avoid the risk of injury being sustained by shoppers. Most stores operate an aisle inspection program which involves rigorous checking of the aisles at regular intervals during the day. Staff are expected to report and deal with any hazards as soon as practicable. Whilst the duties imposed are onerous they are nevertheless entirely justified and very much in the publics interests. We would recommend the following steps to be taken by anyone suffering injury or harm inside a supermarket: Report the accident to a member of staff immediately and ensure a full record of the event is made. Seek medical attention attend the local hospital or your GP for advice. Try to take down details of any witnesses (This may be difficult if you are in pain but such evidence can be crucial) Take photos of the area or the object / spillage that caused you to slip (mobile phone cameras are excellent for this purpose) Contact a solicitor to discuss a your legal position if you feel that you wish to take the matter further. At The Claims Connection, we offer an entirely free legal service that ensures injured parties receive adequate compensation when they suffer an injury through no fault of their own. If you have suffered personal injury in a supermarket, you may be able to claim compensation. This may include a sum for pain and suffering together with treatment costs and loss of earnings. Our success rate against the larger stores in the UK is second to none. Business New Entrant Forces

April 19th, 2008 by janbaskin

By Kate Gardens It is an extremely useful tool when determining the potential profitability for a new entrant in a particular industry. It works by analyzing five essential factors that influence a new entrant in any industry. These factors are classified as follows: Bargaining Power of Suppliers: This is the ease with which suppliers in an industry can influence the price of required inputs. It is determined by analyzing how many suppliers are there in the industry; how unique the product or service they offer is; the cost involved in switching from one supplier to the other etc. The fewer the number of suppliers are in an industry the more powerful they become in terms of exercising influence over the price paid their goods or services. Bargaining Power of Buyers: This is the influence that buyers exercise in driving down prices for the goods and services in an industry. It is determined by the number of buyers for the goods and services in an industry and the ease with which they can switch from one provider to the other. The fewer the buyers in an industry the greater is the power that they exercise in determining prices of goods and services produced in the industry. The intensity of Competitive Rivalry. Competition among suppliers in an industry also dictates profitability and how attractive the industry is for new entrants. The greater the numbers of competitors offering similar products or services at a similar price the harder it is for a new entrant to make a place in the industry. However if there are only a few competitors offering a comparative product or service a new entrant has greater power to exercise in the industry. The Threat of Substitute Products: Before entering an industry it is very important to analyze the extent to which the goods and services produced by the industry can be replaced by different products or services .Technological advances often render once very profitable industries bankrupt. Around 10 years ago, a VCR was a very profitable product. But with the advent of the DVD player, the demand and supply of VCRs has dwindled. If substitution for your product is available and can be done easily and cheaply it will greatly weaken your position in the industry. The Threat of New Entry: Your profit in an industry is also affected by the ease that potential competitors can enter that particular industry and drive down your profits. If there are no barriers to entry in your industry, if the industry offers grater economies of scale and it is easy to acquire the technological expertise associated with your product or service than potential rivals will find it very easy to gain entry into your industry and take away your competitive advantage. Not One Ounce — Candy At Your House

April 16th, 2008 by janbaskin

By Will Clower, Ph.D. Here come the candy canes. In our house, Santa always hung Hersheys Kisses on the tree. Red and Green M&Ms cohabitate with the micro-Reeses peanut butter cups in the candy dish. The holiday season is an excuse for saturating your house with sugar in all its forms. And you want to be festive. You dont want to be a Scrooge about things. But you also know that if it makes it in the door, you will eat it. The Short Term Problem Sugar not only provides needless calories for your expanding horizons, but also destabilizes your insulin levels a result that can lead to overweight, obesity, and even diabetes. Remember that sugar is not the problem. Overconsumption of sugar is the problem. There is nothing wrong with sugar per se, only when you eat it as a jelly doughnut chased with a soda and a candy cane! The Long Term Problem Sugar consumption leads to more sugar consumption. Anyone with a weight problem will recognize the slippery slope this can become the more you eat, the more you want to eat. This is so deadly for your weight, leading straight into a spiral that circles the weight gain drain. The Solution For your house. Ban the sugar bomb. Dont even bring it inside. If you need to have nibbles about, use unsalted nuts or fruit. Remember fruit? Apples come in single serving sizes, wrapped in a handy, edible, holiday colored packaging! Tangerines are fabulous to have around. If you have guests over, set a few olives out. They are so great for you, and you cant take 27 of them in your hand and down them all at once. For your weight. If you do find your house with candies about, you have got to make it your policy to eat only one of them at a time. One M&M? Yes. One mint? Yes. Eat one and walk away to do something else. Learn this habit and burn it in. This will save you a ton of calories. For your health. Remember that brown sugar is better for you than white sugar. So if you do use it, darker is better. If you do have chocolate, darker is better because it has more cocoa and less sugar. Remember that fruit, although it has sugar, also has the fiber that lowers the glycemic index of the juice. In other words, it doesnt just make you tired and hungry like plain sugar can. Litigation Financing Loans

April 14th, 2008 by janbaskin

By Jennifer Bailey The process of litigation involves several, complicated issues. It may take a while before the case is settled. Many plaintiffs lack the resources to appoint a good lawyer and invariably opt for out of court settlements. Today, this scenario is changing. A number of litigation financing companies have come forward to provide financial aid. Litigation financing companies also provide monetary help to attorneys and law firms that are awaiting settlements. Litigation loans are offered in the form of cash advances, repaid after settlement. Pre-settlement litigation loans are generally offered to plaintiffs, on a non-recourse basis. The plaintiffs do not have to repay the cash advance if they lose the case. However, if they receive any compensation, they will have to repay the loan, by giving a portion of the settlement amount to the financing company. Many financing companies offer litigation loans to attorneys on a recourse basis. After the case is settled, the attorney has to repay the loan amount, along with interest. The company may allow the attorney to repay the interest amount after the settlement of the case. Post-settlement loans can offer huge financial relief, when the settlement is delayed due to some reason, after the case is settled. It is relatively easy to obtain this form of loan. Post settlement loans are usually short-term loans. The fees and interest rates attached to a litigation loan may vary, depending on the financing company. There are financing companies that offer litigation loans on a flat fee basis. The financing company determines the loan repayment amount at the time of offering the loan. A few financing companies offer litigation loans on a recurring fee basis. A fixed monthly fee is charged, depending on the loan amount. Litigation loans are associated with high interest rates. It is advisable consider other possible loan options too. Litigation Financing provides detailed information on litigation financing, commercial litigation financing, litigation cash advances, litigation financing companies and more. Designing Your Promotional Umbrellas

April 11th, 2008 by janbaskin

By Gareth Parkin Promotional umbrellas can deliver a strong marketing message and make for perfect promotional gifts or corporate items. Aside from the print and design on the umbrella, the very fact of what they are makes a statement. Umbrellas represent protection and tradition. They offer a strong, solid image when used as a promotional giveaway for your company. They mark your business as one that cares enough to give quality, useful gifts to the customers that it values. There are, however, some considerations to take into account when designing the look of your promotional umbrellas. Colors The colors that you choose for your promotional umbrellas say a lot about your company. Bright, cheery colors present a far different image than staid, classic black, gray or forest green. Choosing contrasting colors or alternating panels of color can make your umbrella more visible on the street, and more valuable to those who want to sport your colors. Depending on the promotional umbrellas that you choose, your colors may be limited to a standard range. This could work fine for your company if your logo or trademark is a single color, or if your company colors happens to be one of the standard colors offered. Some companies can exactly match the colors that you supply using the Pantone color scale, and some umbrellas, like the Holyland Storm Proof Dye Sublimation Umbrellaoffer you a virtually unlimited range of colors and designs. In most cases, though, youll be limited to a range of about twenty colors. Print Area While the umbrella has a large surface area, the print area on promotional umbrellas varies. You can choose to print on one or more of the umbrella panels, and there may be limitations to the size that you can print and the special effects that you can choose. There are some manufacturers that offer umbrellas that can be printed over their entire canopy, which can be very effective, if expensive. What to Print The most common choices of printing on promotional umbrellas are the company logo. Using your company logo on promotional umbrellas offers a number of advantages. Chances are that youll already have camera ready artwork for your logo, which will save you on design costs, and your logo likely has only one or two colors, which will keep your costs low. If your brand name or logo is well-known in your area, then simply printing the logo on the umbrella panel is an easy, effective way of boosting your brand exposure. If your company is not well-known, however, the logo alone may not identify your company to the man on the street. If your intent is to increase brand awareness, you may consider using more than just your logo. Bespoke designs can be created that will emphasize your company and be extremely eye-catching. In addition, many promotional umbrellas offer additional areas for customizing or printing. Check with your supplier to find out if its possible to print your company name or logo on the handle, the shaft, the tie strings, or on the pouch for a telescoping umbrella. Love Handle Exercise - Tips for Swapping Your Love Handles for a 6 Pack With Love Handle Exercise

April 10th, 2008 by janbaskin

By Layla Marshall I’m sure, given the choice, we’d all happily trade in our love handles for a six pack. Unfortunately it’s not that easy. It only gets worse before it gets better. Most people do targeted love handle exercise (i.e. crunches) to reduce fat, with no results. This type of exercise is known as spot reducing. While such exercise helps, it is not going to give you that lean, rippled look when abdominal muscle is hidden under a thick padding of fat. Yes, even if you do 1000 every day. To understand why, it is important to look at how the body deals with body fat. Fat in one place belongs to the whole body, no matter where it is. You cannot selectively lose fat in the body part of your choice, instead, fat is lost systemically. Fat is lost from all over your body, and there is no way you can determine where the fat will be lost from. Therefore losing love handles requires patience, but it’s a goal that is definitely achievable. Any love handle exercise should aim to lose body fat and build muscle. Losing body fat will allow you to lose overall body weight, and this will most likely lead to a waist size reduction. Love handles generally begin to disappear at 12% body fat for men, and 20% body fat for women. Ways to lose overall body fat: A balanced and fat reduced diet will work well in your favor. Cardio workouts such as a jog, swim, aerobics class, or run on a treadmill will help you melt away the fat. The main thing to remember about weight loss cardio workouts is that they should be 20-30 minutes in duration, 3-4 times a week. It is also really important that you choose an activity that’s fun for you. You’ll be more likely to stick to it, and get optimum results. Generally people tend to lose fat where we first pile it on. So be patient, your love handles will disappear with persistence. Exercises like lying pelvic lifts and crunches will help to tone and strengthen muscle under the fat. Losing love handles is not an easy task. Remember that for any love handle exercise to work, overall body fat needs to be reduced. Spot reducing won’t really work to get rid of love handles. Also any exercise program needs to be accompanied by a sensible diet.
