The field of nursing is wide open, because of a shotage of muc needed nurses in hospitals and other venues across the country and the world. There are many types of courses and providers available. The common goal of these courses is to prepare the future nurses for initial entry into practice and RN licensure [procedure of which differs from state to state in the US] and work their way up the professional ladder. The candidates should complete a minimum number of hours of CE courses to qualify for licensure. They are also expected to pass the NCLEX-RN examination. This examination measures the competencies needed to practice nursing safely and effectively as a newly licensed entry-level RN. NCLEX-RN is used by Boards of Nursing all over the US and its territories. If a nursing aspirant had her education abroad, she has to take the RNCGFNS, which provides a certification platform and includes a test of English proficiency, and an examination designed to prepare for the NCLEX-RN examination. The CGFNS certificate program, which is only available for RN candidates, is well-established and serves as a requirement by 42 Boards of Nursing. Understand how important this is as compared to some of the features you may be inclined to advertise. Purpose Are you in business to make a profit or to add value for your customers? This is the most effective sales tool you have. How many times have you called a company and have been dissatisfied just with the person answering the phone? They seem indifferent to your needs, shallow, uncaring. People sense this right away and will assume the service you offer is run with the same indifference. People want to know you care about them. And it’s really not hard to do. If you are running your business with the joy of providing a service your customers need, people will be attracted to your business and will refer you to their friends and family. Get clear about why you are running your business. If it’s only to make a profit, then you need to do something else because you will never succeed at a pace that allows you to have a lifestyle and a business. Testing Even if you knew to test the results of your ad campaign, would you find the time to do it? Probably not, because you’re busy running the details of the business. By Michael Russell Integrated pest management, also known as IPM, is a system that combines biological, cultural, physical and chemical strategies to control pests. In plain English, that means using the easiest, least environmentally harmful, cheapest methods first and using more expensive, toxic methods only as a last resort. Careful observation or crop monitoring is the first and most important step in IPM. You have to know exactly what pest you’re dealing with, when it appears, how many you have and on what plants. For example, after you can recognize aphids, you may find them on a few rose buds on a single plant in the front lawn or covering every bush in your prize-winning garden. It may be the beginning of your gardening system or near the end. How you choose to control the aphids - or whether you choose to control them at all - depends on all these factors and more. Integrated pest management strategies are like a series of steps. The first steps are the least toxic and the least harmful control methods. The most potentially toxic controls are last resort steps. Cultural control: Giving plants optimal growing conditions - soil fertility, water, light and freedom from competing weeds - is the key to this first step. Other good cultural practices include using pest- and disease-resistant varieties and crop rotation, which means moving particular crops to new parts of the garden each year. Crop sanitation: Keeping pests and diseases out of the garden in the first place is more than half the battle won. Inspecting new plants, cleaning your tools, eliminating weeds and using best watering practices help prevent the spread of potential problems. Mechanical control: Prevent pests from getting on your plants by covering them with special fabrics or using hot water, air fire and the heat of the sun to kill them without poisons. Simply knocking pests into a can of soapy water does the trick, too. Biological control: Every pest has a natural control, whether it’s predator or disease. You can buy and release many of these control organisms or encourage the ones that already exist around your garden. Chemical control: As a last resort, apply the least toxic pesticides. The best ones target only the pest and don’t affect the innocent bystanders, such as bees, spiders and other beneficial insects. These pesticides also don’t hang around in the environment where they can continue to affect other organisms long after their use. Another factor that farmers - and you - must consider is how much pest or disease damage you can tolerate. Perfection comes at a very high price. Even farmers who must make a living or go bust based on the success of their crops have what they call an economic threshold, when the cost of the damage exceeds the cost of control. They expect to lose a portion of the crop completely and probably have another portion somewhat blemished. For them, it’s an economic reality, but for most home gardeners, it’s a matter of accepting less than perfection on 100 percent of your flowers and vegetables. Once at home, you then wished you were more outgoing and could connect with people at the events? First, determine your motivation(s) for going to the event: 1. To be “seen” 2. To meet new people 3. To get information from others 4. To share ideas with others 5. To get known 6. To sell others your product / services Different goals require different approaches: 1. To be “seen” - This is the easiest goal to achieve. Basically walk around, smile at people, and talk to people that you know or who approach you first. You’re passively attending the event. 2. To meet new people - Here’s a secret: everyone who goes to networking events wants people to talk to them. Go up to people who are by themselves. Ask them about their business and non-business interests. Share something of interest about yourself. You’re trying to find people who you “connect” with. Smile. When you’ve met someone of interest, get their contact information and follow up. 3. To get information from others - Think of the event as a big informational interview. Introduce yourself to the host, and tell them that you’re looking to talk to people who might have answers to your questions. The host’s introduction will smooth the opening, and the “experts” will be flattered to be sought out. Make sure to thank the experts after the event with an email or (even better) a hand-written note. 4. To share ideas with others - This is basically the other side of the previous goal. When you first arrive, introduce yourself to the host. Tell them of your expertise and give them permission to introduce others to you. You’ll be helping the host provide a useful service (other than simply greeting) and also establish yourself. 5. To get known - There’s an advertising axiom that says you need to see the same ad 7+ times before it’s in your consciousness. It’s also true at business events. While you only have one chance to make a first impression, consistent following-up with people will result in being recognized. To get known, you need to repeatedly show up to events. You don’t have to talk to the same people each time (simply being “seen” is often enough), but do make it a point to remember something about your last conversation with them. People like to be remembered. Follow up with people you’ve met (for the first time) with an email or note. 6. To sell others your product / services - Many people go to events to find a new customer. Think back to all the events you’ve gone to. How many times have you talked with someone and thought “I need to buy that NOW”? Instead of hard-selling yourself, tell stories about people who’ve used your products or services. Highlight the benefits. Tell how you solve their problem. Offer to send them marketing materials. You might introduce yourself to the host, and ask them for an introduction to someone who might benefit from your product / service. A “warm” introduction is much better than a “cold” one. PPI and Secured Loans - The Small Print

All secured loan providers offer Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) and, as the market grows, there are a growing number of specialists insurance providers. This article discusses some of the things to be cautious of when taking out PPI, regardless of which type of provider you use, for a secured loan. PPI - Always look under the bonnet! The Financial Services Authority (FSA), who in January 2005 took insurance under their regulation, demands that all insurance providers provide a Policy Summary’ of the insurance they are providing. This outlines, amongst other things, the main features, costs and benefits of the policy as well as significant or non-standard claim exemptions and how long the cover will last for. In the search for getting to grip with the insurance cover for a secured loan the Policy Summary’ is normally the best starting point. The Policy Summary’ will start by telling you the significant benefits of the cover. It will tell you what you are covered for (for example, serious accident, death, sickness and redundancy). It will also tell you how they calculate the daily rate of cover, the maximum length of time the insurance will pay the secured loan payments, the maximum benefit per month, age constraints and what will happen if you pass away. The Policy Summary’ will then tell you about the significant exclusions or limitations of the cover and this is perhaps one of the most important areas to look at when considering taking out PPI for a secured loan. This section will normally tell you which sicknesses are not covered. For example, if you knew about a specific condition within 12 months prior to taking out the loan, you won’t be covered for that specific condition. Some insurance policies stipulate they do not cover for backache unless medical evidence via an X-Ray can actually show some sort of defect. It is important to also bear in mind that certain policies will not cover you for stress, stress related illnesses or most mental health problems. Most, if not all, policies also do not cover you if you take voluntary redundancy and will also not cover you if you are forced to take involuntary redundancy within a certain time frame (e.g 60 days) of taking the policy out. You will also find that certain policies will not cover you for the duration any payments are made in place of notice (these are typically called `payments in lieu of notice’). Perhaps the most important things to consider when taking out insurance protection for a secured loan are the things you know about prior to taking out the policy. For example, have you a record of sickness or are there any `rumblings’ at work about redundancies? You must be cautious about this and if you are unsure about anything then either read the policy document prior to signing up or ask the insurance provider if they envisage any problems. It is also prudent to get any advice’ about such matters down in black and white. It is very worthwhile going through with a fine toothcomb the actual policy document itself. You may find other causes for concern, for example some policies use the fact that you are claiming Jobseekers allowance to govern whether you are employed are not. There are cases when you might not qualify for jobseekers allowance (for example, if you have over a set amount in the bank or have been paid in lieu of notice). This outcome may be that even though you are indeed unemployed the policy will not make the payments against the secured loan. It is worthwhile making sure you know how long the insurance policy will keep up the payments. For example, most policies only cover you for one or two years. After this period you will have to make the secured loan repayments yourself (although you may find, as with most policies, you may be able to claim again on the policy after a set period). A significant thing is to make sure you know the termination policy of the insurance provider. You will typically find that the PPI provider for a secured loan must give you a month in which to change your mind about the policy. This is sometimes referred to in documents, on the Internet and in the Press as a cooling off’ period. Remember if you cancel after this time the refund will probably not be in direct proportion to the remaining policy term. So you could get back less than you might expect, or even nothing. This mainly happens because of the way secured loan providers set up the PPI. They will typically assign the policy cost as a percentage of the basic loan and add this to the initial loan amount. This means you are also paying interest throughout the term of the loan on the amount charged for insurance.
